Volunteering at the Gorge Canada Day Picnic is a super fun experience that just seems to fly by as the day is filled with so much going on.
We are always looking for folks who want to be involved on the day, and can find a spot based upon your strengths.

Choose A Role

GTCA Information Tent
In this role you'll work side-by-side with members of the GTCA board, meeting folks from our community and helping to answer their questions, sell concession items, and sign up kids for the bike raffle. First shift, and last shift help to set up/take down the tent.

Strawberry Tea
In this role you'll work seasoned volunteers to prepare and serve the Strawberry Tea at the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club. You may be tasked to serve, clear tables, or take cash.

Logistics
If you are a workhorse, then this is the role for you. The Logistics team looks after setting up the event space with tables, chairs and garbage/recylcing bins. During the day, you'll help make sure the event space is tidy. This role involves requires an active person as it may involve a lot of walking (10K+ steps) on the day, as well as lifting and hauling. This role has you in and amongst the event goers, so you'll also be acting as an ambassador for the event as people often have questions about where different event features are located.

Ambassadors at Large
As an ambassador at large, you'll basically go where is needed on the day, when needed. If the bike valet needs help, you'll jump in to help, or if the Logistics team needs an extra hand keeping an area tidy, you'll help out. If not tasked to do anything, you'll just be a greeter at one of the ends of the event informing newcomers to the event how to find the online guide, directing visitors to the features they're most interested in. This is probably the most dynamic role of our volunteers.

Kids Zone Ambassador
If you love interacting with kids, and want to help make the event super fun for the young ones, we could sure use your energetic and happy personality in our Kids Zone. This may involve making bubbles with a soap-bubble wand, face painting, helping placing temporary "tatooos" on kids, plus anything else that we might have going on, on the day.
